In order to get GenoPro running on a mac, you need to 'emulate' it, that is, run it in an environment that makes the program believe it's running on Windows. That Environment can be a virtual machine (vmware), or even better, a compatibility layer (wine). The best option—when available—is a compatibility layer because it runs the program as a native app, but this is rare!
We will install GenoPro using the best compatibility layering software that is also open-source, WINE. In order to install it, though, we need to install an older version of the software (2011), since the latest version (2016) has some scripts that won't work. Technically you can install the latest version, but you might get upset at the bugs. For more info on WINE: GenoPro information: (warning, the page says Linux, but most applies to mac. Please do not rely on it unless you're really good with computers) steps: (you need a key, or if you're a student, get one from their website) 1. Download the WINE bottler software here: (get the stable version if you have an older mac, get the development version if you have a newer mac, just read the page!) 2. Download the 2011 version of GenoPro: (this version has almost everything the latest version has since these folks haven't done anything new to the software since 2012) 3.
Launch the WINE bottler and install: in 'advanced,' select 'GenoPro2011.exe' and under the 'winetricks' tab, select VCRUN6 and check 'include WINE.app' 4. During installation, give it your key. Otherwise, run it as a trial 5. Launch GenoPro2011.exe.
Can I convert my trial license to a permanent license? After the evaluation period has expired, you will be prompted to enter a license key. If you have purchased the product you will have received a new license key. Enter the purchased license key when prompted to unlock the full 'unlimited' version of the software. To take advantage of complimentary email support for up to 18 months, your license key must be registered. If you purchased the product from the VMware Online store, your license key is automatically registered.

How do I license my copy of VMware Fusion? To license VMware Fusion, simply enter a purchased license key during product installation in the license key field. Alternatively, you can enter your serial / license key from the 'VMware Fusion' drop down menu in the product. Choose 'License' in the drop down menu, enter the serial / license key and choose 'OK.' Complimentary email support is activated as soon as your VMware Fusion license key is registered.

Once you have downloaded GenoPro Genealogy Software 2011 2.5.4.1 you will find all installation instructions included to get you up and running quickly.
